The phenomenon of history is that it enables us to anticipate the future based on the mistakes of the past, however, this understanding of history cannot be grasped, from the actions undertaken by the Israeli Government. The position of the Government is rigid and solid — “Israel is not preparing for a ceasefire. There is currently no end date for the operation. Only when we achieve complete quiet can we talk about calm,” this message made by Gantz at first gives off the impression that Israel fights for the rights of its citizens but if we try to detect the reason for the conflict, we will run into the fact that the fuel for this conflict was discriminatory action of the Israeli Government towards Palestinian minorities. So, should Israel stop its military actions against Hamas? Is Hamas ready to call for a truce?
To answer the above-stated questions, we have to understand the conceptual structure of Hamas and its aspirations in the middle-east, for a group of people, Hamas is just an organization or head of the government that seeks justice for the Palestinian (Muslim) minorities however, for some people, Hamas is a terrorist organization, the successor of a Muslim Brotherhood, main principle or motive of which is Jihad and creation of a state based on a conception of a Sharia. So, what is Hamas? the objective statement is that Hamas represents a radically inclined organization motto of which is to justify ends by all means. Unequivocally, if Hamas had an opportunity to wipe Israel from the face of the Earth it would do so in a blink of an eye. Ergo, it would not be an overstatement to say that Hamas is not ready to call for a truce, Israel on the other hand, cannot stop its military actions against Hamas since it already has escalated the conflict to the extent where is no way back.
According to Niccolò Machiavelli leader (prince) has two ways of maintaining control over his domain by either being a lion or a fox, vividly lion, in this case, is a symbol and metaphor for strength — it is reasonable to submit that Israel’s current policy is based upon the principle of being a lion, demonstrating power and argument for that evidence lays in the following words of Gantz “Only when we achieve complete quiet can we talk about calm”. Thus, it is a demonstration of power with the aim to avoid further bloodshed and remain the peace in the region.
In brief, since 2014 Hamas remained relatively quiet until provoked by the discriminatory action undertaken by the Israeli Government towards Palestinian minorities. The remedy for the case cannot be found within the frames of diplomacy, since Hamas still is unpredictable but then again if the conflict continues to progress it represents the threat to the international entities and the world.
